Synopsis: Newly graduated Kumiko Yamaguchi wants to make her mark on the Japanese educational system as a teacher. All well and good until she finds out that the school she'll be teaching at has its fair share of troublemakers and rabble-rousers. The ruffians at the school don't frighten her though for she has a secret of her own-she's a fourth generation crime syndicate member and next in line to head it up. She's gone straight and wants to be a teacher though, but she's one person in whose class you don't want to be caught fooling around!

From the very hit comic " You ", now became a drama "Gokusen", it's a story about 23-year-old Yamaguchi Kumiko (Yankumi). She seems to be a serious person because of her silver glasses and her out-of-date hairstyle. Yankumi is a new teacher at Shirakin highschool who is assigned to class 3D where all evil students are there and Shin is a leader. In the first hour of her class, the class tries to annoy her in every way, but that doesn't work for Yankumi since she is an only daughter of Ninkyoichi family (an old famous family since Edo) Hearing the name, the crying child will stop crying !!! She was raised among guys like Yakuza so Yankumi is tough enough for those kids... Her life as a teacher in Shikarin high school has begun......

Gokusen is a comedy/drama based on the manga of the same name. The basic story is about a young woman whose parents died when she was young and she was raised by her grandfather. Her father was a teacher so it was her dream to grow up to be like him. Here's the catch: Her grandfather is the head of one of the most powerful old-school Yakuza families. And the hijinks ensue (most involve her slipping into her yakuza mannerisms at the wrong times, then having to talk her way out of it). Naturally, they stick her with the worst class in Japan, at an all boys high school, but she gradually earns their respect by either beating the crap out of them, or beating the crap out of others who beat the crap out of them. I don't know how many episodes there were where she single-handedly takes out street gangs. Anyway, it was a damn enjoyable show. It didn't have Mr. Kitano in it, but it did have sexy Yuko Nakazawa, the ever nummy Misaki Ito, and "he's okay for a pretty-boy" Jun Matsumoto.
