They were not able to find Masaru. Keiko came all the way from Tokyo to attend the funeral. Hiromi tried to bring up the mood but it didn't work. Hiromi was actually the one who probably suffered the most after Masaru's death. Over at Nagisa, Keiko had a talk with Haruko. Keiko said that since Makoto would not want to leave, Makoto would be better off staying at Diamondhead. At night, Makoto sees Kaito and Hiromi talking in Masaru's office. They talk about the fact that Masaru lied about his age by two years. At first, they were both laughing but then they started crying. Hiromi told Kaito that he didn't know what to do. On the other hand, Haruko finds out that Makoto is thinking about moving in with her mother in Tokyo and makes a decision. She knows that Makoto wants to stay at Diamondhead. Haruko asks Keiko to allow her and Makoto to continue Diamondhead. At first, Keiko was very worried about allowing Haruko to control everything, but after hearing Haruko talk about her confidence and her feelings, she agreed. At the same time, some guests came in. Since Haruko was the new owner, she got back to work. Hiromi finds out that Kaito has decided to leave Diamondhead. But Hiromi still doesn't know what to do and hasn't made a decision yet. He knows that he has to leave but he can't reach a decision. Kaito throws a pillow at Hiromi just for fun, since Hiromi was thinking really seriously about it. Kaito said that Hiromi wasn't being himself. He was being serious, something he usually wasn't. They fight, but out of friendship and encouragement to each other. That night, Hiromi sees Makoto outside by the ocean. He goes out to talk to her. He tells her that he and Kaito will be leaving the day after tomorrow. She is sad but tries to hide her tears. Hiromi tells her, "Don't worry. You should find some other more handsome guy as my replacement" and Makoto replies, "Of course there are lots of guys more handsome than you" but starts to cry and walk back towards Diamondhead. She thought that Hiromi and Kaito were two of a kind. The next morning, Hiromi wakes up early and goes out to the ocean. He wanted to put an end to his fear of the ocean and goes in and starts swimming. Kaito was outside watching. When he gets out, he throws Kaito into the ocean. When Haruko and Makoto come outside, Kaito and Hiromi say "Thank you for everything" and take their hands and throw them into the ocean. The next day, Hiromi and Kaito say bye to everyone and leave. When seeing their car go off, Makoto starts crying again. After driving for a while, Hiromi stops the car to let Kaito out. Kaito says, "Good luck to you" and they part. On another island, some kids find a bottle drifting in the ocean, pick it up and take out the letter inside. The letter read "THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL SUMMER. We are the BEACHBOYS & GIRLS". Also inside was a commemorative picture of Hiromi, Kaito, Haruko, Makoto, and Masaru. - The End - |
