BEACH BOYS

Episode Three

Kaito got a phone call from his boss saying to come back. While cleaning the guest room where Kaito stayed, Makoto found a memo. She read what was written on it and started laughing.

Over at Diamondhead, the summer season began and tons of guests were flowing in. Masaru told Hiromi to drive to Tokyo to deliver some documents to a company there. Makoto heard this and thought it was an opportunity to see Kaito. So while Hiromi started driving off, Makoto appeared from the back of the car. Although Hiromi was surprised, he nevertheless allowed her to come with him. She told him that Kaito left something behind and she had to go to return it to him. But she didn't tell Hiromi what it was.

Hiromi and Makoto arrived at Tokyo. After Hiromi delivered the documents, he saw that Makoto was looking at some jewelry at the street vender outside. There was a necklace that she wanted with a dolphin on it. Hiromi bought it for her.

The two went over to Kaito's company and were surprised at the size of the building. When they walked in, they saw Kaito speaking with some foreigners in English and called his name, but he couldn't hear them. Then Makoto thought of something that might work. While Kaito was going up the escalator, she started reading out the memo which he left behind. Right as he heard it, Kaito stopped and saw that Makoto was reading out his poem. He ran down the escalator and took the memo from Makoto's hand. He was really embarassed. He asked them what they were doing there in Tokyo, and Makoto told him that they were there to see Kaito. But since he was busy, he told Sakura to show Hiromi and Makoto where his apartment was.

Kaito was given another chance at the big project which he had failed at before, and so he worked harder than ever. Everyone was surprised at how much he worked. He was always the last one to go home.

At Kaito's apartment, Hiromi and Makoto were waiting for him to come home but Makoto fell asleep. Finally, Kaito came home and Hiromi told him that Makoto was doing her best to stay awake, but she fell asleep 5 minutes later. Kaito still had work to finish. The next morning, Makoto was still asleep when Kaito had to leave for work. Makoto started getting mad at Hiromi for not waking her up but Hiromi said, "That's the guy's lifestyle. Let him live how he wants to live".

Hiromi and Makoto left Kaito's room and started heading back to Diamondhead. Hiromi remembered the day before when he got a phone call from Masaru. Masaru told Hiromi to go and visit Makoto's mother, who lives in Setagaya, and told him the address. But Hiromi couldn't do it. When they stopped for ice cream, Makoto asked Hiromi why he decided to come to Diamondhead. He told her that it was a place where he could settle down and think about life. He also wanted to be able to swim in the ocean, something he couldn't do since being unable to participate in the Olympics. He said that he was afraid of the ocean. They got back in the car and Hiromi saw that Setagaya was straight ahead. But he remembered Makoto saying that she didn't like people making decisions for her. He decided not to listen to Masaru and headed back to Diamondhead.

When Hiromi and Makoto came back to Diamondhead, he apologized to Masaru for not being able to obey his commands. Makoto, on the other hand, didn't know that Masaru ordered Hiromi to go visit her mother.

Over at Kaito's company, Kaito was told by his boss that his project was a success. But something else was on his mind. He talked with his boss. A few days later, Kaito re-appeared at Diamondhead. Everyone was surprised. He told them that he had quit his job and wanted to work here at Diamondhead. Masaru sarcastically told him that he didn't need any employees. But in the end, he agreed with one exception. Kaito and Hiromi would work on one salary. Hiromi didn't like this idea, but nevertheless, greeted Kaito back. In the back of his mind, he was glad that his partner decided to come back.
